Dear Parents,
For these first 3 weeks, our English lessons will be at 11.30 a.m. and we will start with the snack break. The children will be having their snack while listening to a story as I will schedule my Reading period then. After the first three weeks, the P.E. teacher will be taking back this time slot and I will be taking the children at 9.30 a.m. This temporary change is due to the fact that the P.E. teacher needed to work with the children at a particular venue during the 9.30 a.m. time slot for these 3 weeks.
Today the children will be listening to 2 stories, and then we will be looking at informal competitions that children have among themselves via videos and reflections/discussions. This is related to our theme of competitions (from our STELLAR reader ' The Blink-Off') and we will be writing on this theme at a later stage.
There is NO homework issued today as the L.S. 1.1-1.5 worksheets will all be due on Friday. We will review the homework worksheets before I collect for grading to ensure that all clarifications are made.
There is no particular item to bring for English tomorrow. I will be providing the necessary resources.
Thank you. Have a wonderful day!

Dear Parents,
Today we had ICAS (Writing) for those who had signed up and for the others, I gave them a writing assignment (to contribute to our class noticeboard and as part of our Reading assignment) to do either a book review or a book character review.
We also reviewed with those who were in class (I will do another review tomorrow) Grammar components that they had learnt previously (pronouns, conjunctions, adverbs and punctuation for dialogue). Those who were at the NDP briefing will get their review tomorrow.
Homework issued (due tomorrow - with extension given for those at the NDP briefing) will be LS 1.1 to 1.5. The children had already started with guided classwork in class and they were to finish this stack of worksheets at home as homework.
Thank you.
Have a wonderful day!

Dear Parents,
Today is the first lesson with your child. We spent some time going through our class rules and routines. I have issued them a green folder which must be brought for EL lessons. It will be light as only the score sheet (for reward points) and spelling lists and at most the homework or handouts will be there and all extra items will be removed for submission or filing after completion/ marking in the normal Blue ring EL file.
- We started on the first Stellar Reader ' The Blink-off' today and the children enjoyed two rounds of reading, followed by an oral comprehension quiz based on this text (with focus on comprehension as well as pronunciation of ending sounds). We then rounded off the lesson with a story read to them 'The Library Lion'.
Homework issued today and due tomorrow will be a letter to me (Miss Ow Yeong) to introduce themselves to me (their likes and dislikes, family, as well as the type of English lessons that they have enjoyed). There is no word limit for this piece of assignment and they are to use a piece of foolscap paper for this letter.
Spelling will be every Tuesday and it will start next Tuesday. I have issued the printed Spelling List for Term 3 today. It will be uploaded in the next post as well for your information.
I look forward to our partnership. My sms update to you regarding your child will be between 7 July to 9 July.
Thank you.
Have a wonderful day!
